Prestige Mangement

Time management is an acquired skill that is necessary to thrive in the business world. It doesn’t matter how savvy you are or how great a deal closer, if you are lacking time management skills your business talents are only subpar.

Increase your productivity and efficiency by following these basic time management practices:

Recognize Your Own Strengths

Pinpoint the time of day that you are most productive and have a high work ethic. This could be in the morning, after a cup of coffee, or perhaps after lunch. It is important in time management to schedule your day based on your most productive hours. Delegate or outsource tasks that can more effectively be completed by someone other than yourself.

Get Organized

Being organized is of the utmost importance for good time management. Make sure your work space is clean. A clutter work space acts as a distraction. Organize and clean up computer files, this means a variety of things: rename documents, save documents in appropriate files, and delete or move outdated documents. The easier it is to locate and open files, the faster the work will get finished. It is also important to keep your e-mail inbox easy to navigate by deleting old and unnecessary e-mails, creating folders to better organize incoming mail, and checking new messages on a set schedule.

Prioritize Tasks

Take an inventory of all the tasks to be completed then prioritize them based on importance and deadlines. Things that are the most pressing should be completed first, things that can wait should be at the end of the task list. If possible, make your task list at the end of the work day for the following day. For example, Monday night make your task list for Tuesday, this way, you are able to jump right in and get to work on Tuesday rather than spend a great deal of your morning planning out what could already be done.

Avoid Multitasking

Multitasking may seem like a good idea, but in actually it can be detrimental to time management. Multitasking is when you are focused on more than one task at a time, which means the work will not be completed with the most accuracy or efficiency. Stick to one task at a time. Even if it takes more time initially, you’ll save time by not having to correct asinine mistakes.
